It’s a day late, but I thought I’d post a couple pictures from Washington, D.C., in honor of inauguration day. The photo above is a statue at the Lincoln Memorial. Above it is engraved, “IN THIS TEMPLE AS IN THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE FOR WHOM HE SAVED THE UNION THE MEMORY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN IS ENSHRINED FOREVER”.
The picture below is of the 555′ tall Washington Monument. These iconic landmarks stand at opposite ends of the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall, where an estimated 800,000 people gathered to celebrate President Obama’s inauguration yesterday. It was nice to hear most of the hyperpartism put aside for the day in favor of celebrating democracy.
